Japan Ambassador calls on IT Minister Syed Amin Ul Haque

Japan Ambassador to Pakistan Kuninori Matsuda called on Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque here on Wednesday..
Federal Minister for IT welcomed the Ambassador of Japan in his office and matters of mutual interests and IT and Telecommunication sector were discussed during the meeting.
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Federal Minister for IT said that Pakistan greatly values its relations with Japan. He said that Pakistan wanted to enhance its ties with Japan in all sectors especially IT and Telecommunication. We want to get benefit from Japan’s experiences in the field of technology, he said. He said that the IT sector of Pakistan is rapidly growing.
He said Information and Communication Technology (ICT) export remittances including export of Telecommunication, computer and information services, surged to US $958 million at a growth rate of 40% during July-December of FY 2020-21, in comparison to US $684 million during July-December of FY 2019-20.
Steps are being taking to increase IT exports, he added.
About the provision of broadband services across the country, the Federal Minister for IT said that the Ministry of IT through its attached department Universal Service Fund (USF) is taking initiatives to provide broadband services both in unserved and underserved areas across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of Japan said the role of Ministry of IT & Telecom for development of IT and telecom sector of Pakistan is commendable.   
Secretary IT Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui and senior officers of the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication were also present on the occasion./Ends
