Projects underway for provision of quality telecom services: IT Minister Syed Amin Ul Haque

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque has said that the speedy work on broadband projects is underway for the provision of quality telecom services in the country.
He said that the government is committed to end digital divide between rural and and urban areas as the connectivity projects of worth billions of rupees are going on in far-flung areas.
Federal Minister for IT Syed Amin Ul Haque was addressing GSMA Mobile World Congress (MWC) Ministerial Conference titled "The path to Building Digital Nations in Asia Pacific: policies and strategies for sustainable digital future" in Barcelona, Spain on Tuesday. Pakistan's delegation led by Federal Minister for IT & Telecom Syed Amin Ul Haque comprising Member International Coordination Ajmal Anwar Awan, DG Wireless, MoITT Jahanzeb Rahim and CEO Universal Service Fund (USF) Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary attended the conference.
Syed Amin Ul Haque said that provision of quality network facilities and protection of cellular users' rights is the topmost priority. He said that steps are being taken for the promotion of telecom sector and resolving the issues of mobile companies.
The Federal Minister for IT noted that the process of digitalization is rapidly moving on in order to fulfil the Digital Pakistan Vision. Vital steps like infrastructure sharing, Spectrum sharing and Spectrum Refarming Framework for telecom sector are also in final phase, he added.
He said that Ministry of IT & Telecom in cohesion with other departments of the government of Pakistan have been working hard to improve digital literacy across the country. Several initiatives have been taken to improve the digital literacy level of Pakistan by focusing on nurturing a startup culture and promoting freelancing, he said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's delegation led by Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque had a meeting with Secretary General Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) Ms. Deemah Al-Yahya on the sidelines of GSMA Mobile World Congress 2023.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for IT said that Government of Pakistan desires to build strategic partnership with DCO to leverage the true potential of ICT for the socio-economic growth in the region. He said that Pakistan aims to enhance its IT exports to DCO member states./Ends
