DRAFT PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION BILL

Information communication technologies are playing pivotal role by enabling us in sharing common means and resources to prevent public health emergencies. Data, technology and accessibility has become more important in day to day personal and business activities. More importantly the use of technology can help the nation mitigate the risk of known epidemics.

Knowing the fact about the power of data in current era and its other aspects like privacy, confidentiality and integrity, Secretary Information Technology and Telecom directed officials of MoITT to finalize the draft of “Personal Data Protection Bill” as privacy of personal data of an individual has become more relevant and important than ever before because of increasing use of ICT services in current pandemic (Covid-19). In order to promote a broader collaborative process, MoITT has placed the draft Bill on its website for public opinion.

Ministry of IT & Telecom invites all the stakeholders to share their feedback on the aforesaid bill for further enhancements in future therefore, the bill will be available to download from Ministry of IT’s official website. Stakeholders can share their feedback via email, info@moitt.gov.pk till 15th  May, 2020.
