A high-level delegation of overseas and international students visiting under the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives' flagship program "Mitti Ki Pukaar - URAAN Overseas Pakistan Summer Scholars Programme," representing top global universities, held an important and detailed meeting with the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, at her office.
During this hour-long key session, an in-depth discussion took place between the Federal Minister and the students representing world-class universities regarding Pakistan’s digital future, the growth of the IT sector, and youth empowerment.
During the meeting, Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja briefed the students on the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s "Digital Nation" vision, highlighting how the Government of Pakistan is working to digitally empower the country and digitize all economic and administrative systems. She also informed them about the reforms and infrastructure enhancement measures being undertaken in the telecom sector regarding internet connectivity, 4G, and 5G in the country.
Speaking on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and modern technologies, she stated that the government's aim is to equip Pakistani youth with advanced digital skills so they can compete globally.
The Federal Minister provided details of various ongoing projects under the Ministry of IT and clarified how daily life is being made easier for ordinary citizens through e-governance and digital payments.
?She made special mention of the facilities provided for students, freelancers, and youth, including National Freelancing Programs, the establishment of IT Parks, and patronage for startups.
An extensive Question and Answer (Q&A) session was also conducted during the meeting, where the overseas students asked various questions regarding IT policies, cybersecurity, international payments, and connecting overseas Pakistani talent with the local IT sector.
Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja provided comprehensive answers to all queries and outlined the government's future strategy.
The scholars of "Mitti Ki Pukaar - URAAN" appreciated the Federal Minister's vision, the efforts of the Ministry of IT, and the revolutionary steps being taken for students and youth.
